I guess I would have to thank my ex husband for my interest in wolves. He absolutely loves them and after buying him everything you can imagine in wolves they started to grow on me!!  =)

Unfortunately wolves are endangered in 48 states and threatened in    one.  The only state where populations of wolves still live in substantial  numbers is Alaska.

Live together in families.  Care for their own sick and wounded pack members.  Participate in the care of wolf pups from the entire pack.

Usually cautious of people and attempt to avoid them.

Wolves weigh about 100 pounds and measure around 5.5 feet from nose to tail tip which makes them the largest member of the dog family.

Howling is a form of communication between individual wolves and packs. It's often used as a way for one pack to let other wolves in the area know that they are in their territory.

I love most all animals and have been checking out information on adopting or sponsoring a wolf!  I figured any little bit I can do, is better than not doing anything at all!!  I have adopted a whale and a dolphin so why not a wolf... they are in dire need too!!  I am adopting a wolf thru Defenders of Wildlife plus by the looks of it... I'll have to adopt a bear and polar bear... cause I have always been a huge bear lover!!  =)  For $25... besides helping towards saving the wolves you receive:

  • A cuddly plush toy wolf pup
  • One year -- four free issues -- of DEFENDERS, our photo-filled, award-winning quarterly magazine, with engaging and timely articles on today's important wildlife conservation battles
  • A Defenders of Wildlife calendar, mailed each summer to our members
  • Defenders wildlife note cards during the year
  • Personalized address labels featuring images of some of the wildlife you are helping to protect
